Place de Clichy Bus Stops

Tour - A Grand Church, Art Nouveau & Rue des Martyrs

Here's a quick side trip that should take about 4 hours. Perfect for an afternoon after exploring Montmartre. We will take a bus to Saint-Georges, an elegant neighborhood in the 9th. Place Saint-Georges is home to many stately townhomes where artists lived in the late 1800s. The centerpiece of the pretty circular "Place" is a fountain with a bust of the illustrator Paul Gavarni (1804-1866) originally built for horses to drink from.

We will admire the stately mansions around Square Alex Biscarre and then walk to Musée Gustave Moreau. This small museum has a beautiful spiral staircase designed in the Art Nouveau Style. After our visit here we will take a bus to Place Franz Liszt, and home to the impressive Eglise Saint Vincent de Paul. From there we’ll take a short walk up Rue d’Abbeville to number 14, a ceramic Art Nouveau with an amazing partner building next door.

A short bus trip will take us to Rue des Martyrs, a great little food street, and happy hour at Bistrot Smiley.

Tour - Saint-Germain, 3 Churches & a Fancy Lunch

Our day begins with a ride on Metro 12 to Sevres-Babylone. Across the wide boulevard, you’ll note the impressive Hotel Letitia. We’ll walk through Square Boucicaut exiting near the Bon Marché. After we’ve thoroughly investigated the world-famous epiciere, we’ll cross the street and stroll to 95 Rue de Sévres and the Chapelle Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. A quick walk to Metro Vaneau, where we’ll take some photos before boarding a bus to Michel Debré.

At this stop, we’ll take some photos of the Centaur statue and make our way to Eglise Saint-Sulpice. From there we’ll be ready for lunch, at La Jacobine, in the Cour du Commerce. After a delicious traditional French lunch, we will window shop on Rue de Buci, visit Musée Eugene Delacroix and the oldest church in Paris, the Eglise de Saint Germain des Pres.

After this very full day, we'll board our bus and make our way back to Montmartre to enjoy a quiet evening in the neighborhood.
